CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — July 28, 2026 — Measure Well today announced that Dr. Jeremy Welland has joined the organization as its Chief AI and Data Officer. Dr. Welland brings nearly 30 years of experience across the nonprofit, cloud, green-tech, fin-tech, and media-tech sectors, most recently serving as Chief Data Officer and Head of AI at Gusto. In his new role, he will lead the data science, AI, and analytics solution and infrastructure building that powers Measure Well’s mission of helping cradle-to-career and place-based partnerships use technology, AI, and data to advance economic mobility and education.
Measure Well is a U.S. nonprofit data and technology initiative launched in 2026, founded in partnership with Ballmer Group, TechSoup, and an Advisory Council including leading national networks like Strive Together, Purpose Built Communities, and My Brother’s Keeper Alliance. The organization addresses a common struggle for community organizations and place-based partnerships: the lack of sustainable data and analytics infrastructure needed to scale their impact. As Chief AI and Data Officer, Dr. Welland will operationalize technical, AI, and data capabilities that enable these networks to set goals, deliver outcomes, and drive continuous improvement for the children and families they serve.
Dr. Welland is a recognized data and AI leader with deep expertise in the strategy and deployment of AI, data science, and analytics products and services. At Gusto, a private HR-tech company valued at $10 billion, he led data strategy and execution across data platform, analytics engineering, business intelligence, product data science, and AI/ML. Previously, he served as Global Head of Data Science and Analytics at Google Cloud and led data teams at PayPal/Venmo, Pandora, Pacific Gas & Electric, and Willis Towers Watson. Since 2022, he has served on the Board of Directors of YMCA of the USA — a nonprofit serving 22 million Americans with 20,000 employees — where he sits on the Executive Committee and chairs Investments for its $120 million endowment. He also serves as an Executive in Residence at Marquette University’s Artificial Intelligence Lab. Dr. Welland holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Michigan and a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
